The Traditia women’s workshop (for mosaics and sewing) originated as a Second Chance project, and has developed into a sustainable small business run by Berceni citizens.
In 2004, Second Chance started with a training program to teach a small number of Berceni’s unemployed women skills such as mosaic making and sewing. Today, five women work part time in the business, which is run by Cosmina Pandele, a native of the town of Berceni. The unique, handmade, products made by these women are a wide array of mosaics as well as children’s costumes. Through individual orders, private home sales and contracts with private companies, Traditia functions as an independent business, providing salaries for its employees.
